Amicalola Falls State Park Dawsonville, GA (20 minutes)

On a clear day you can see Amicalola Falls nestled in North Georgia’s mossy, waterfall-filled Chattahoochee National Forest from Appalachian Sky’s deck. The waterfall is Georgia’s tallest, and at over 730 feet, it’s the largest cascading falls in the Southeast. Exploring the falls is easy, and requires no hiking. But if you’re game, you can trek from the bottom up 604 steps. There is a rest stop at the viewing platform halfway to the top.

While at the park, be sure to visit the Amicalola Falls Adventure Lodge to enjoy a drink or bite to eat and amazing views. Take in a spectacular sunset dinner or go early for breakfast and watch the morning’s white fog blanket the mountains. In addition, zip-line tours, archery, and GPS scavenger hunts are available for the adventurous. There are two gift shops: one at the Visitor Center and another inside the Lodge. Lastly, before you leave, be sure to snap selfies at the AT Approach Trail. Love Georgia’s wonderful state parks?
